Workshop Overview

CATCH A BIG ONE! Whether you like them or hate them, bugs are part of our world and play an important part in our ecosystem. Having a bug house in the garden opens opportunities for children to learn about habitats, ecosystems, food chains. This workshop gives children an opportunity to learn important DIY skills and exchange their knowledge about insects with other like-minded kids. During this 2-hours workshop, children will laminate wooden panels, drill pilot holes, hammer in nails, install a hinge, attach a hanger, make a simple door latch, and more. - All tools, materials, and safety gear provided, - Children get to keep their wooden creations, - Suitable for boys & girls age 7-12, DURATION: approx. 2 hours, CLASS SIZE: up to 6 children only, PROJECT: a Wooden Bug House, SKILLS TO LEARN: gluing, clamping, drilling, hammering, surface finishing TOOLS USED: clamps, awl, hand drill, hammer and nails, screwdrivers and various hardware, sanding blocks, and various grits of sanding paper. ATTENDANCE: Please arrive 15 min before the session starts to ensure children receive the necessary instructions and briefing from the Instructor. SAFETY: Closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times during woodworking classes. Due to Health & Safety regulations, children not wearing closed-toe shoes will not be permitted to take part in a woodworking class.
