TOYMAKER Workshops offer children a wonderful introduction to woodworking and the art of using hand tools. Simply arrive with empty hands and leave with not only a finished wooden toy, but also a handful of new skills and a sense of achievement!

Join us these school holidays at Kai Tahi Arcade in Porirua for hands-on woodworking, fun and skill-building! We’ll be running eight different workshops, with a different woodworking project in each workshop, for children aged 6-10 and 8-12. With only 8 children per class, spaces are limited, so book early and make the most of the school holidays!

Our spring holiday workshops will run on Tuesdays and Saturdays at Kai Tahi in Porirua. Please check the calendar below for available dates and times.
Kai Tahi is a vibrant waterfront hub transformed from a former factory to reconnect the city with the harbour. There is plenty to explore and enjoy, including food, shops, art, and community spaces, so allow plenty of time before and after the workshop to make the most of your visit.

Workshop rules
Our workshops involve potentially hazardous woodworking tools that require children to work independently, move safely around the workspace and behave responsibly. Every participating child must meet the stated age limit, be able to understand and follow safety instructions, use tools safely and participate within the level of group supervision we provide. Health and safety are our top priorities, and we cannot compromise on them.
Participation and Safety Requirements
We do NOT provide specialist support, therapists, support workers or one-to-one assistance. We cannot accept children whose individual needs require specialist equipment, one-to-one assistance or a level of supervision beyond what our workshops provide.
Every child must meet the stated minimum age; children below the stated age limit cannot participate.
An accompanying parent or caregiver is welcome to stay but is not permitted to participate in the workshop activities.
These requirements apply equally to every participant and are necessary to maintain a safe environment for all children. If you are unsure whether a workshop is suitable for your child, please ask us before booking.
